TNAMB President's Message

January 2009 – TNAMB President’s Message – Tina Christein, TNAMB President

2009 – A Great Time for New Beginnings – For All of Us!

If your 2008 was anything like mine – you will agree with me when I say that I’m glad it’s OVER!  I don’t think I’ve looked forward for a year to come to a close more than I have hoped for the end of 2008.  Now, I’m ready for some new starts!

In reality, 2008 was a pretty good year for TNAMB.  We personally witnessed Governor Bredesen signing the 2008 Mortgage Originator Reform Bill in June, we pulled off 3 TNAMB Benefit Golf Tournaments, had some record breaking attendance at our Membership Luncheons, we started a new TNAMB Chapter in West Tennessee and we saw a 65% increase in our membership when most state associations experienced a decrease in their membership rolls!

We have been glad to see many TNAMB members renew their memberships and urge those in their offices to join TNAMB.  We really appreciate the support and partnership many have provided to our Board and our new Executive Director, Brian Short.

But now, 2008 is over and we need to forge ahead in our efforts to “help keep your Mortgage business safe, secure, professional and profitable!”  What will that look like in 2009?

We have five TNAMB Membership Luncheons scheduled in 2009 and we hope to have some larger regional events in Memphis, Chattanooga and Knoxville.  We have plans for 4 Benefit Golf Tournaments in 2009, our Annual Lobby Day at the Capitol in Nashville in February and, of course, the 2009 TNAMB Convention and Trade Show to be held on May 4th and 5th at the Cool Springs Marriott and Convention Center in Franklin.

With our membership rolls and participation levels at such a high level you will want to make sure that you are a part of what TNAMB will be doing for you in Nashville and Washington, DC and you will do us a great favor by urging you employees and the companies you do business with to join TNAMB as Professional, Associate and Affiliate Members.  Our strength is in our numbers and you can continue to help us increase our strength by telling others about TNAMB and our activities.

What a great way to start off 2009 – join TNAMB and talk up membership and participation in TNAMB!  Your success depends on a united and consistent voice of education, legislation, advocacy, and public awareness.  TNAMB has been that consistent and common-sense voice for the mortgage profession in Tennessee for over 15 years.  You can’t afford to miss a single beat this year.  Happy 2009!

Sincerely,

Tina Christein
