TNAMB President's Message

October 2008 – TNAMB President’s Message – Tina Christein, TNAMB President
"An October SURPRISE!"
The "October SURPRISE" is that you can renew or join TNAMB THIS MONTH and still benefit from the same TNAMB membership dues rates we paid in 2001! For the first time in TNAMB history beginning on November 1st and AGAIN on January 1st the TNAMB members dues will increase - for Professional, Associate and Affiliate Members. However, this won't affect you if you act NOW!
-> If you send us your TNAMB Renewal this month we will give you the additional 12 months at the 2001 rates rather than the increased or 2009 rates.
-> If you join TNAMB this month - AND YOU SHOULD (if you have not yet!) - we can pass on the 2001 rates to you - but you must act quickly!
We need your partnership as we work tirelessly to represent and defend you and your business in Washington and Nashville. We are YOUR voice with HUD, Congress, the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Reserve, the Governor, the Tennessee Legislature, and the Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions.
In order to help protect your Yield Spread Premiums, increase your FHA and Conforming Loan Limits, and slow down the number of intrusive and confusing additional loan package disclosures, we have met in Washington several times over the past 6 years with Tennessee Members of Congress:
Rep. Lincoln Davis,
Rep. Bart Gordon,
Rep. Zach Wamp,
Rep. Jim Cooper,
Rep. Marsha Blackburn,
as well as with US Senators from Tennessee
Sen. Lamar Alexander and
Sen. Bob Corker.
For over 6 years, we have worked for you on Capitol Hill in Nashville and have successfully partnered with key Tennessee Legislators,
Governor Phil Bredesen and
TDFI Commissioner Greg Gonzales to craft Tennessee laws that will help you make and keep our industry strong and prosperous for the good of ALL Tennesseans.
You were allowed to stay in your offices, close loans, market to your referral sources and work your leads while we met with elected officials, their liaisons and their appointed regulators to "keep you and your business safe, secure, professional and profitable." We have spent hours, days and weeks away from our families and businesses on your behalf - as volunteers! Now we need your help!
1. What would it cost you or your company to hire lobbyists, public relations firms and spokespersons to accomplish what TNAMB and our national organization (NAMB) have accomplished on your behalf?
2. What would you need to sacrifice to fly to Washington or drive to Nashville each time a major issue affecting you and your business arose or each time a "self-appoint special interest group" gathered up rumors about you and attempted to shut you down?
We aren't asking you to pay the salary of a lobbyist or PR firm or to hire a spokesman - by yourself. We are asking you to pay your fair share! Join your professional association and keep us working in Nashville and Washington for you. Let us help you remain and become the mortgage professional who has the immediate respect of the state and national leaders who govern and regulate our industry. We can no longer do what we do without increased broker and loan officer partnership. With the decrease in the number of wholesale lenders our budget has been cut back enormously. You must step up to the plate NOW and join TNAMB to keep your business protected!
The "October Surprise" is that we have arranged for you to pay the same membership price we have all paid for the last 6 years to renew or join TNAMB. You will avoid the increase of Membership Dues if you act NOW!
TNAMB is like your "insurance policy" against over-reaching legislation and unnecessary regulation so you can run your business without the worry that no one is looking out for you. However, just as you must pay your insurance premium each year - so also, your must keep your TNAMB Membership current.
Are you now a member? Brokers and Loan Officers check here (Affiliates check here) and RENEW for 2009 - (before October 31) if your name is on the list and Join TNAMB if your name is not there.
For only $25/mo brokers, owners, managers and affiliates can join TNAMB! Your loan officers can be Associate Members for only $8.33/mo! Why not use this "October Surprise" as your excuse for joining TNAMB TODAY and bringing everyone in your office with you for the sake of your career! We need your partnership!
Sincerely,

Tina Christein, TNAMB President
